Project: Sidewalk Toronto

2018-2020

Sidewalk Labs, a part of Alphabet, Inc, brings together smart urban design and new technology to improve cities and create sustainable and affordable neighborhoods. The company was selected to create a plan for a smart city on the Toronto waterfront. By bringing together smart technology and urban planning innovations, the company developed a Master Innovation and Development Plan (MIDP) for the district.

Consultation & Advisory Services: Led all planning related to last mile delivery system design and wrote the Freight chapter within the MIDP and its appendices.

Project Management: Managed sub-consultants on freight modeling efforts focused on anticipated parcel volumes and facility layout/design.

Research: Conducted extensive analysis on urban consolidation center facilities around the world. Interviewed companies developing automated distribution centers, delivery vehicles and other smart freight systems.

Stakeholder Engagement: Brought local, Toronto based freight experts onto the Mobility Advisory Committee to provide additional voices and guidance to the overall mobility plan for the district.
